A mattress guide that shows its work
Most mattress sites hide their sources. We publish ours on every page.
OpenMattressLab started from a simple frustration: “best mattress” lists that all recommend the same high-commission beds, with no way to check why.
So we built the opposite. For every mattress we read the lab measurements (RTINGS, Sleep Foundation, Mattress Clarity), the expert verdicts (Wirecutter, CNET, Good Housekeeping, Tom’s Guide…), and a large sample of owner reviews on Trustpilot, BBB, Amazon and Reddit. We turn that into one Research Score and an honest list of who each bed is not for.
Editorial standards
- Every factual claim links to a source.
- We re-check prices, trials and ratings at least quarterly (last check: October 2026).
- We correct mistakes publicly — email iamkashifcs@gmail.com.
- Health information is general. If you have ongoing pain, talk to a clinician first.

Writer & researcher
Kevin
Kevin researches and writes every OpenMattressLab guide. He reads the lab measurements, expert reviews and owner complaints behind each mattress, then turns them into one plain-English recommendation — with every source linked.
For every guide, Kevin works through the published lab data (mainly RTINGS), the verdicts of independent reviewers, and owner reviews on Trustpilot, BBB, GoodBed and Amazon — and applies the same published scoring formula to every bed. He doesn’t claim to have slept on every mattress; he shows you where every number came from instead.
